Led a small design team concepting and designing a pet ownership & e-commerce mobile application for Petco

Project Summary
During my time leading Salesforce's
Envision process, a visionary process we developed to showcase the potential of the Salesforce platform to customers, I led the initiative to redefine Petco's mobile experience.
Initially tasked with replicating the e-commerce experience of Petco.com on a mobile application, we delved deeper into consumer needs through rapid guerrilla research.
Recognizing the demand for more engaging features, my team devised a comprehensive experience that not only incorporated e-commerce but also introduced innovative functionalities such as integrating Petco's Vetco initiative, a popin veterinarian service.
Our approach aimed to seamlessly integrate consumers into the Petco ecosystem. The outcome was a vision prototype, strategy, and roadmap designed to enhance consumer engagement, serving as an "alpha" experience for further investment.

Mobile Design
Our approach aimed to seamlessly integrate consumers into the Petco ecosystem. Our first goal was to replicate the e-commerce experience of Petco.com on a mobile application. We also introduced innovative functionalities such as integrating Petco's Vetco initiative, a pop-in veterinarian service, and pet vaccination records storage.
The outcome was a vision prototype, strategy, and roadmap designed to enhance consumer engagement, serving as an "alpha" experience for further investment and strategic direction.
As a devoted pet owner, this project resonated with me as it allowed us to empower consumers in caring for their beloved pets. Through customer research and the development of tailored tools, we crafted a future-oriented experience that catered to their needs and aspirations.

Results
Sold the “vision” to executives
During testing users rated the experience 5/5
During testing the app was rated a 4/5 in potential usage
Process
The framework we used to design the Petco experience vision was a modified design thinking process to deal with the limited timeline.

Research
Everyone on the team was dedicated pet owners, and we devoted time to collaboratively brainstorming tools that would enhance the lives of "pet parents." While e-commerce functionality was a given for the mobile app, we delved deeper into what other features could make it truly compelling.
Through research with pet owners, we discovered that one of the most significant challenges of pet ownership is staying on top of vaccinations and health-related matters. It's common for vaccinations and checkups to slip through the cracks, leading to chronic issues for the pets. This invaluable insight served as the foundation for the app's standout concept.

Design
We developed tools that empower pet owners to track their pet's vaccinations and schedule checkups with Vetco, Petco's veterinary service. Our platform offers educational resources, personalized notifications on pet-related issues, and a touch of fun through features like enabling pets to "tweet" when their owners make purchases from the app's e-commerce section.
Emphasizing simplicity and user-friendliness, we ensured seamless access to content and services. Our deliverables included a vision prototype and a strategic plan aimed at enhancing consumer engagement, which successfully secured additional funding and set the course for future growth. As a dedicated pet enthusiast, I found immense joy in contributing to a project that aimed to improve the well-being of our beloved animal companions.
